When patents are pending for really cool products, there’s a mixed feeling of both excitement and trepidation. We’re hoping for only excitement around this innovative wearable. Introducing NakeFit – a pair of hypoallergenic adhesive pads that stick to the bottom of your feet – making them impervious to hot surfaces all while offering heightened grip across rough pavement.

NakeFit’s Intelligent Design

Designed to embrace the benefits of “going barefoot” without sacrificing the integrity of your soles on difficult terrain, the NakeFit slip-ons are a brilliant design but there are question marks surrounding their durability. Claiming to be fully waterproof, the Italy-based startup doesn’t provide too many details on the materials or the longevity of its product, which begs the question: How many times can you wear these sticky pads in and out of the pool? And how are they made?

Targeting the watersport junkie or the outdoor enthusiast who values the natural grip of their feet, NakeFit enhances the very thing lost when putting on shoes. “We invented NakeFit to keep your feet effectively protected and at the same time support all the amazing things it can already do,” the company explains.

Practicality

Produced with materials that “don’t harm people, animals, or the environment,” the super stick-on-soles are minimalists’ dream shoes. Described as the ideal footwear for protecting children’s feet from warts, cuts, and dangerous slips, NakeFit keeps your kids playing safely by the pool even if there is a change in surface conditions.

“NaketFit protects your feet without sacrificing the benefits of being barefoot.”Whether you want to save your feet from the summer’s hot sand at the beach or experience a Spa treatment without the flip-flops, NakeFit is an easy-to-remove adhesive designed “for walking freely wherever you want.” The patent-pending concept has a July estimated ship date and is available in black, pink, and light blue. Here is a quick snapshot of NakeFit’s real-world uses:

Rocks – anti-slip and anti-resistant

Sand – easily walk on hot sand surfaces

Waterproof – saves the feet of children from warts/verruca and dangerous slips

SPA – protect your feet while keeping things sanitary

Questions Around Durability

Backed by a Kickstarter campaign that has raised close to $225,000 (June 2017), the pavement-resistant stick-on soles are poised to revolutionize footwear depending upon their durability. With 10 pairs costing $34 and question marks surrounding longevity, it’s difficult to determine whether or not this is the deal of the century or simply an expensive disposable pair of soles that won’t last beyond a single-use. That is the beauty of patent-pending prototypes: they’ll either disrupt an industry or fade into the abyss of non-practical products.
