With a food recycling bin, you can transform your food waste into something useful and practical. Using the FoodCycler, you can quickly condense your food waste into compost. This can then be used throughout the garden or to help plants around your home grow. You can save waste, energy, and even money with this device. If you are an avid gardener, you quickly find that compost is always on your shopping list. With a food recycling bin, you can kill two birds with one stone.

There are various food recycling bins currently on the market. Today, we’re going to review the FoodCycler FC-30.

Overview

This product has been designed to be as simple to use as possible. There is a lid that can be unlocked and inside the bin is a bucket. This is similar to the buckets you will typically find in a waste bin. Once you remove the bucket, simply fill it with your food waste and when it’s full, slip it back into the compartment, close the lid, and turn the device on. Once the food has been fully recycled, a light on top of the device will alert you that it can be removed and that it is ready for the garden.

The composite that the device produces is very small and dry, but is still filled with nutrients and is ideal for improving your garden while keeping your home green.

The Big Benefits

One of the main issues with food recycling bins is the time it takes to complete the process. In the past, these bins have taken multiple days to fully prepare and transform waste. With this device, you can get the compost you need in only three hours. If you are recycling larger levels of waste or you are converting waste that is more difficult to break down, this may take a little longer. But it will still be significantly faster than many other products available on the market.

You may be concerned with the level of noise that this recycling bin produces, particularly if you’re planning on storing it in a room other than the kitchen. Thankfully, you will barely hear any grinding from the machine.

Another benefit is that this product is completely odorless. The system uses activated carbon to keep particularly potent smells trapped within the device. Even when you remove the composite you will find that it barely smells of the food it was made from. However, you will need to change the filter at least every few months to ensure the smell continues to be eradicated.

Quality Of The Compost?

With this device, you’ll acquire compost that is organic, sterile, and completely safe. You will be able to use it on whatever area of your garden you want without having to worry about the safety of your family or anyone using the garden.

Since you’re making the compost yourself, you’ll know exactly what it’s made of. That said, do be aware that some materials may not break down as well as others. For instance, if you put kernels through the machine, you’ll find that they come out the other side of the recycling process unscathed.

The compost produced is sterile and safe, however, this means that to become a compost replacement you will need to add Foodilizer tablets. These are a soil probiotic that add beneficial bacteria and fungi to your soil to promote healthy nutrients and microorganisms for optimum vegetation growth. FoodCycler suggests that you collect the sterile waste produced by your FC-30 until you wish to use it in your garden. Once ready to use, evenly spread out or mix the Foodcycler material in with your soil, dissolve 1 Foodilizer tablet in a spray bottle with 1 liter (roughly 1 quart) and evenly spray it onto the soil.

Any Issues?

This is a stellar product, but there are still some issues that you need to be aware of. First, while the machine is fantastic, once it gets started, the on the switch can be slightly unresponsive.

The other main issue is size. This device is designed to be as compact as possible and fit on a countertop surface. If you’re expecting a recycling bin that can handle a weekly level of waste, you may be disappointed. Instead, this device can be used to convert food that has built up at the end of the day or after preparing a meal.

The product provides fantastic value for money compared to other options on the market which are often more than double the cost. The bottom line? If you’re looking for a compact, clever device that will make fast work of daily food waste, this product could be ideal for you and we strongly suggest you give it a try.
